As a self-taught artist, I truly believe we all possess the ability to create. Early on during childhood, my family recognized my artistic abilities and always encouraged me to embrace this gift.
But I never took a real interest and didn't buy into the idea I was good enough to consider myself an artist. And the older I got the more art became a distant past.
My reunion with art occurred when I stumbled across an artist and her amazing artwork, I was full of questions, and fortunately for me, she took the time to provide plenty of answers. What stood out during our conversation, was her explaining how art has helped her mentally
overcome challenges throughout her life.
I can relate now, but I remember thinking then "How can art do that." Nevertheless for me, it was an inspiring testimony, and at that moment my journey as an artist began. And for that, Joanne I'm forever grateful.
Artistic creation is equivalent to purposely becoming lost to achieve finding your way back home. And while lost I have every intention to evoke emotions and the development of an idea that will create methods to overcome life's impediments.
